An Austell woman was convicted of multiple counts of identity and credit card fraud for using cloned cards at big-box stores across three counties.
Miesha Sanyell Hunter, 31, who also used the name Miesha Sanyell Perdue, was found guilty by a jury Wednesday of six counts of identity fraud and four counts of financial transaction card fraud, prosecutors said.
During the trial, which started Monday, video was shown of Hunter using cloned credit cards in May 2012 at Target and Walmart stores in Cobb, Douglas and Fulton counties.
In the video, Hunter was accompanied by Alphonsus Idiku, 35, of Kennesaw. He was convicted of the same charges in October. Idiku is currently serving a six-year prison sentence, after which he will be deported to Nigeria, prosecutors said.
A news release from the Cobb County District Attorney’s office said the cloned cards Hunter and Idiku used had Idiku’s name on the front, but the funds came from the accounts of several victims.
“To this day, we don’t know how they got the victims’ information,” Assistant District Attorney Hannah Palmquist said in a statement. “The victims’ cards never left their wallets.”
Hunter is scheduled to be sentenced Dec. 19. Prosecutors are asking for six years in prison and nine years on probation.
